* UPDATE * Empath & Amethyst is now Xo Tiffany Celeste

And we’re back for another addition of Self-care for the Self-aware Part 2 –Emotion & Energy Balancing.

In part one we discussed why it’s important for empaths to implement a routine self-care practice and today we will dive into the how.

As you know, empaths intuitively know what others are feeling and thinking and we often times can walk into any environment and pickup on the energy in the room without anyone saying a word and before you know it you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or drained without even knowing what just happened to you.

This is why self-awareness is key to distinguish between what are your real feelings and what you may have picked up from someone else. Emotions can be contagious, you can potentially “catch” fear, anger, or joy from people without realizing it.  Absorbing other people’s emotions can trigger panic attacks, depression, food, sex and drug binges, and other physical symptoms.

What are emotions anyway and as an empath how can I stop the emotional overwhelm?

Well, emotions are a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. We are human beings and we were created to feel emotions. So never feel like you are flawed or that something is wrong with you. If you experience low vibe emotions that are a little bit more persistent than others that's okay that just means you may need to learn how to work with them to create new emotional patterns.

You can create new emotional patterns with this simple but powerful 7 step process.

  1. Identifying the emotion that you wish to change or release. —What is the word that captures what i’m feeling?

  2. Identify your triggers. —What or who is causing this emotional response?

  3. Deal with the triggers. —Is there a boundary you need to set with your self or someone else? Do you need to release a toxic relationship? Do you need to find a different job?

  4. Determine how you would like to feel. —What lights you up? What environments do you thrive in? How can you add more of that into your self-care practice?

  5. Create a plan. —How can you be prepared if a situation arises where you feel emotionally triggered. The key here is to map this out before that trigger has a chance to kick in.

  6. Get support. —Get into a community of like minded women who understand and support you. Consider getting professional help and KNOW that it’s okay to ASK for HELP!!!

  7. Be persistent and patient with your self. —Realize that it will take time for new emotional patterns to kick in. Don’t beat yourself up if you have a meltdown. Take it one day at a time and remember to give yourself that same grace, compassion and kindness that you so freely give to others.

My final thoughts as a fellow empath is that we are not responsible for transmuting others peoples energy or trauma. There is nothing wrong with holding space for people to heal and grow but you don’t have to do the work for them. Your only responsible for healing yourself, and radiating the loving light within you and being an example to others. Peace and Blessings my love and may you continue to thrive!

Here are a few of my best Self-care tips for Emotion & Energy Balancing so that you can elevate your emotional and energetic frequency to live a grounded life.

Awareness

A key realization on the path to emotional awareness as an empath is to learn to distinguish what WE are feeling from what OTHERS are feeling.

3 things to considering when evaluating your emotions:

1. Determine if what you are feeling is your real issue or does it belong to someone else?

2. Ask yourself, Am I aware of my emotions as they arise, and the cause of those emotions?

3. What/Who are your emotional triggers and what boundaries can you put in place to protect your energy?

Chakras

Chakras are points within our physical bodies where energy flows through us. It is important to keep these energy points healthy and flowing openly. In Sanskrit, the word chakra literally means “spinning wheel or disk.”

Keeping your energetic body and chakras healthy leads to a stronger empath – one who is less susceptible to absorbing other peoples energy, better able to maintain balance, and can be more empowered.

Movement

Emotions are energy. Energy wants to move. When stuck emotions cause stress it’s the energy asking you to help it move.

Ways to move your body - Dance, exercise, yoga, running, swimming, sex and lifting weights just to name a few.

Sound Healing

Sound healing uses aspects of music to improve physical and emotional health and well-being through the application of sound waves and harmonic vibrations to the body through the use of instruments.

Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave by using entrainment. Sound healing has been known to help treat stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, sleep disorders, pain and autism.

Visualization

Visualization is a great tactic to deploy to help with blocking out toxic energy when you are feeling uncomfortable with a person, place, or situation. You can simply begin w/ a few deep breaths and visualize a shield or white or pink light surrounding your body. Imagine the shield protecting you from anything negative, stressful, toxic or intrusive. Within the protection of this shield, feel centered, happy, and energized.

Crystals

Carrying or wearing grounding crystals, such as Hematite or Black Tourmaline, are perfect for protection. These stones not only help protect you from loud energy, they are also soothing to the emotions and help keep you grounded.

To work deeper on managing your emotions and keeping them high vibe I have created an Emotional Guidance Workbook for you to work through what maybe keeping you stuck.
